Built in 1958, the air base is located in the town of Minggang north of Xinyang. It is planned to convert the air base to a dual-use military and civil airport with an investment of 335 million yuan.〔(空军开展明港机场调研我省军民合用机场项目取得重大进展 )〕 ==Facilities== Xinyang Minggang Airport has one runway that is 2,700 meters long and 50 meters wide (class 4C), and a 5,000 square-meter terminal building is being planned.
